The proposal is done, the first brave 'yes' has been spoken. So, what's next? If the idea of a room full of people, and organizing an event excites you less than packed suitcases and a drive to the airport, then you should definitely keep reading. In this case, an elopement – your very own wedding adventure, tailored for two – might be just the perfect thing for you.

An elopement is more than just a wedding; it's an intimate promise in a place that touches your hearts. Leave the pressure and traditions behind, and focus on what truly matters – yourselves.

As your elopement photographer, I am here to accompany you to the most beautiful places in Europe, capturing a day in all its facets that you can relive over and over – even with those who weren't present.

But what exactly does an elopement mean?

Elopement – it means 'to run away.' Originally, it had a negative connotation when people decided to marry without prior announcement or legitimacy. Fortunately, this perspective has changed.

Elopements are today's ultimate trend when it comes to getting married. Couples increasingly seek the extraordinary, the unique for their big day and consciously decide against all the rules and regulations supposedly associated with marriage.

In a world full of traditions and expectations, elopement becomes a liberating opportunity to celebrate love in your own way – with everything that belongs to you and even what doesn't.

The world is open to you, and how your elopement looks is entirely up to you. Whether you travel or stay close, whether you officially marry or plan a symbolic ceremony – your day will be an unforgettable adventure celebrating your love, just the way you want it.

And, of course, you can bring someone along. An elopement doesn't necessarily have to be just for two. Your most trusted companions are, of course, welcome too. But maybe the appeal for you lies precisely in the element of surprise.

What advantages does the elopement offer you?

You might be familiar with the saying, 'We could have had a fantastic vacation with that money!' when it comes to the wedding budget. If you'd prefer that, it's already the best reason to combine elopement with a very special and perhaps unique journey. The wedding day is immediately combined with the honeymoon during an extended stay, whereas conventional big celebrations often sacrifice the honeymoon to the budget.

Instead of renting a big wedding venue, spend the money on a dream hotel, and costs for decorations, food, and drinks are significantly minimized. Instead, you can focus entirely on what really matters to you – whether it's the dress, the destination, or a gourmet meal.

Planning also becomes more straightforward. It starts with choosing the wedding day, which doesn't have to fall on a weekend or in summer. The only important thing is that you have time – and your desired wedding service providers. This often shortens the planning time and makes timely elopements easily achievable.

Of course, the budget for an elopement can quickly add up – travel expenses, bridal gown, wedding rings, wedding photographer – an elopement wedding doesn't have to be cheap. However, you can consciously use the budget where it's most important to you.

How do we tell the family?

The most exciting part is often not the elopement itself, but for many, it's still the fear of the reaction from those who weren't there. Sometimes, this fear becomes the reason to decide against eloping. But it shouldn't be.

When you return from your adventure, the pictures are your secret weapon – your ace in the hole, so to speak. That's why a good photographer is essential. Whether you surprise the family with a spontaneous gathering or have a relaxed garden party for all your loved ones to reveal your secret – you can let everyone participate again in this moment (...and an opportunity to catch up on the party if you still miss it).

Your adventures and all the emotions you experienced should not only be visible but also palpable. Who wouldn't rejoice with you?

And to be honest, those who aren't immediately enthusiastic are probably the same people who would have tried to take control even at a traditional wedding. So, stand by your decision. Your elopement is your very own story, and good pictures help tell that. If you're authentic, others will feel it.

Let the pictures speak for themselves and look forward to doing your own thing. Have the best day of your life with everything you like and love. Because that’s exactly what getting married should be about.
